Patel Brothers Suwanee Store
Patel Brothers, an Indian oriented grocery store and market, opens a second Atlanta area location this year. The new store, which will be located in the Johns Creek/Suwanee area of Forsyth County, would be built on currently vacant land near the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Caliber Street. Forsyth County planning and development documents indicate the parcel on which the store is planned is nearly 11.5 acres.
The Suwanee store will be 83,000 square feet, significantly larger than the Decatur location. Patel Brothers had officially told customers they plan to be open in Suwanee on June-13TH -2019.
Patel Brothers started as a small neighborhood storefront in Chicago opened by two brothers, Mafat and Tulsi Patel, in 1974. At the time, the Patel’s were recent immigrants from India, and had trouble finding the ingredients they craved from back home. Their shop sold the kinds of items you couldn’t get at your average grocery store like fresh spices, lentils, and chickpea flour — all imported from India.
The new Suwanee store will likely do extremely well given the large Indian population in the Alpharetta/Johns Creek/Suwanee area.
